A work visa given to foreign professionals, managers, and employees with comprehensive skills is called the Singapore Employment Pass (EP).This pass is also given to foreign entrepreneurs, managing directors, and shareholders who want to form a Singapore company and personally manage their business.
For EP applicants to be eligible, the following papers are to be submitted to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM):
An Employment Pass Application form which should be filled in and completed and obtained by downloading it from the website of the company
It is advised that professionals should acquire sponsorship from the company if the employer is a Singapore-based company. But in case the employer is an overseas company which does not have any local office, their application should be sponsored by a local company which is required to sign the EP form and stamp this document with its company seal.
Education certifications, and if applicable, testimonials from previous employers.
English should be used in the documents but if ever it is not then translation to English must be made accordingly.
The latest business profile of a company that is registered to the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA).If for some reasons the company is not yet registered, it is necessary for the company to procure registration papers from whichever authorize agency.
A passport-sized picture of the applicant taken for the past three months.
The passport particulars and other relevant travel documents of the applicants.
(Special not: If the documents of the applicants are not in English, it is required that the original copy of the document be presented as well as the translated version certified as correct by their embassy.)
EP Eligibility
One of the most important factors that will determine the eligibility for EP is the educational criteria. Applicants should have a diploma from college in a prestigious university.
However, the agency said that passing the educational criteria does not guarantee a successful application since it also considers other factors. In fact, foreign applicants who lack a college degree may still qualify for EP as long their entrepreneurial or professional skills are highly notable.
To qualify for EP, applicants should also have a fixed monthly salary rate of at least S$2,500.
A foreign professional's current citizenship, age, work-related experience, and duties and responsibilities in a company are also among the factors to be considered according to MOM.
And for entrepreneurs, the agency considers their company's background and paid-up capital that will determine their potential contribution to Singapore's economy.
